Hasami Porcelain

Hasami Porcelain is a everyday tableware with clean lines, tactile finish and stackable geometric design. It was designed by Takuhiro Shinomoto of Tortoise in Venice, CA whose vision was to create modern tableware with the organic quality produced by traditional Japanese manufacturing techniques.

The charm of Hasami Porcelain lies in its texture what is firmer than ceramics but gentler and more organic than that of regular porcelain. Also, because of their shared diameter, the Hasami designs are multi-functional: for example, a plate can also be used as a lid. So you can freely mix and match pieces and create your unique Hasami collection. Hasami pieces are stackable - easy to store or display.

Each piece of Hasami ceramic porcelain is created from a special mixture of porcelain and clay and is made in a small Japanese town of Hasami, where craftsmen have been creating this particular type of procelain-meets-ceramics ware for almost 400 years. It sets Hasami Porcelain apart from mass-produced, factory-made tableware, and is the reason why each piece presents slight variations in colours and textures.
